Was Dick Cheney drunk when he shot Harry Whittington?

Cheney

Here's the Washington Post transcript of the interview of Vice President Dick Cheney by Fox News' Brit Hume.

Randy Alfred suggests that Hume should have asked the following questions:

So, nobody was drinking when you went back into the field at 3:00?

And you had one beer at lunch? Not two or three?

Did you drink anything else at lunch: wine, whiskey, mixed drinks, anything else? Any form of alcohol?

And during the break after lunch, did you drink anything then? Was anyone drinking in the break after lunch you just told us about?

And during the hourlong tour of ranch, with a ranch hand driving the vehicle, did you drink anything then? Was anyone drinking during the tour?

Were you or anybody else drinking or under the influence at any time after lunch and before you resumed hunting at 3:00 p.m?

Why the delay, Mr. Vice President?

It's pure speculation, of course, but the scenario that Cheney was intoxicated must be considered as a likely explanation for the accidental shooting. It certainly explains the 14-hour wait before he would submit to a law enforcement interview.

BorowitzReport has a nice spoof, calling it a result of 'faulty intelligence'. :-)
