How not to get fired because of your blog
I won't have time to backrack through all the stuff I've missed this week, but I couldn't resist picking up Sheila's pointer to this: How Not to Get Fired Because of Your Blog.

Hey JD: little trick I figured out when linking to Sheila's blog:
http://www.projo.com/cgi-bin/include.pl/blogs/shenews/archives/weekeightytwo.htm#safeblog
If you remove the /cgi/include.pl from the URL, the link bypasses th e projo's annoying login page and goes right to the blog.

My blog is supposed to be outside the registration wall. You're not supposed to see the registration screen. Does this mean you are being stopped and asked for a login?

Tom, perhaps you'll want to respond to this. When I was traveling in LA, I was able to access the main page of Sheila's blog freely, but when I clicked on a perma-link (so I could copy and paste it as a pointer), yes, I was hit with the belo/projo registration firewall.
Sounds like this should not be, but your permalinks are walled off and require registration before someone can read the item.

Hey JD. I took a shot at a revised version of the article over on my blog. (http://allied.blogspot.com). ;-)

Thanks, Tom, and JD for confirmation. The login screen is a recent glitch, and it's fixed now. No more barriers.

Well, everyone has to find his or her own comfort level. I rarely revisit blogs when I don't know anything about who's behind them.
