Fair use in the digital age
Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Va., the most tech-savvy member of Congress, is guest-blogging over at Larry Lessig's place and tells why he introduced H.R. 107, the much-needed Digital Media Consumers’ Rights Act.
It's a good bill, but with big money and big media lined up against it, I'd be surprised if it passes, at least in this session of Congress.
Yesterday the congressman addressed the state of the Induce Act in the Senate and concluded: "I have my doubts that the bill will make its way out of the Senate this year and be considered by the House, we could yet see the bill appear in some form before the House Judiciary Committee (on which I sit) either as freestanding legislation or as an amendment to a pending copyright bill."
