Lessig's 'Code,' version 2.0
Larry Lessig is doing a remarkable thing for the 5-year-anniversary re-release of his first book, Code and other Laws of Cyberspace. Three remarkable things, actually.
First, he's doing a rewrite of the book rather than just a modest update, to bring out a version 2.0.
Second, he's donating all his proceeds to Creative Commons.
Third, he's looking for "chapter captains" for the 16 chapters in the book to lead a discussion about updates to the work in a public wiki.
It's another sign of how far we've come with social media in just the past few years.
Creative Commons, incidentally, is marking its second anniversary with the launch of the Science Commons on Thursday at 7 pm in San Fancisco.
