Meeting with Open Media founder

Had lunch today at Yank Sing in San Francisco with my Ourmedia partner, Marc Canter; Doug Kaye of IT Conversations; ZDNet columnist Steve Gillmor, Noah Glass, co-founder of Odeo; and founder Mike Homer (former senior vp at Netscape and AOL) and Wayne Dyer of the nonprofit Open Media Network, which went beta a month ago today.

Discussion was all over the place -- including Mike's raising the idea of open-sourcing Open Media's code -- but the biggest takeaway for Marc and me was Mike's agreeing to support our goal of creating a global registry, or directory, for millions of grassroots media works that anyone can tap into. Down the road, we'll be working together toward that important goal after we get some institutional funding.
