Podcasting to reach 60 million U.S. consumers in 5 years
According to new forecasts from the Diffusion Group, a consumer technology research consultancy in Dallas, demand for podcasts is expected to grow from less than 15% of portable digital music player owners in 2004 to 75% by 2010 -- reaching 60 million U.S. consumers.

Keep these reports for a few years. I think we will see they are nothing more than a while guestimate. This wild growth of podcasting assumes there are a hell of a lot of good story tellers out there. There are about 6000 podcasts out there now. I'm sure most have an audience of less than 10. Isn't podcasting a transition technology to the day when we can select audio content from the mobile device?
